Saving big

I'm already planning for my next shopping trip. I can't wait, only 1 more week and hopefully I will get everything I need this time for just $40. Yup I said it just $40 whole dollars, my last shopping trip I saved a tonne of money by using coupons, like $40 off my whole entire bill. One thing you have to make sure of though is that you go through your coupons on a regular basis to make sure none of them have expired :)

How to coupon Correctly - Tips on being an Efficient Couponer

So most people wonder, How can I save as much money as all these people are saying that they do? Or they often say it's not worth my time and energy just to save a few measly cents, but let me tell you, those few measly cents can add up at the end of your grocery bill. I know because I've done it. I've earned lots of free stuff along the way. It is just going to take you guys some practice in doing it. So here's what I do in order to make the most out of my couponing dollar. And by the way this is coming from someone who has never spent more than $150 a month on groceries and my cupboards are always stocked full.

• Double stack your coupons when and where you can ( later on I'll get a list of stores that you can shop and double stack coupons)


• Buy things when they are on sale and use your coupons then


• Know your store's policies on couponing


• To be most effective in couponing you should organize your coupons in a way that is effective to you (ie; envelopes, binder, accordian organizer etc. etc. etc.)


• Get flyers & Newspaper inserts - compare the coupons from the inserts with the deals in the flyers, save the coupons you can use for deals that are up and coming


• Write down on a list all of the items you use always in order to know which coupons you need


• Go to company websites, some have coupons listed right on their websites


• Sign up for sites to get member only coupons


• email or call companies whose products you use all the time to see if they can send you coupons.


• look for printable coupons online


• Only clip and order coupons that you are going to use.


• Look at the coupon boards in your local grocery store or look for coupon pops in your regular stores on their shelves


• Pull 5 or 6 off the tear pads at a time


• Look on your products packaging labels, sometimes the company will hide a loyalty coupon on the back of the packaging


• Coupon trade to get coupons that you want and get rid of ones you don't


• Join coupon trains!!!


• Organize your coupons into categories and then file them by date, putting the ones expiring sooner in the front and the ones that have awhile in the back. (You can file them into categories such as food, baby, pets, health and beauty etc. etc. etc.)


• Carry your coupons with you at all times you never know when you can steal a deal


• Make a meal plan and shop around that menu


• Buy your sunday paper for coupon and flyer inserts


• Bring a calculator with you to keep track of your spending


• Buy less individually packaged snacks, buy in "bulk" and divide it up yourself


• Take the coupons from your local coffee shops paper


• Use Coupon match-ups
